I have a 4 year old, dun mare for sale/trade. She is double bred Driftwood & is registered with the AQHA. She stands about 14'1-14'2 & has legs that go on for miles, my farrier actually thought she was an appendix because of how leggy she is. She's got ve
ry good conformation, she's great with her feet (clippers or a power filer, like a sander almost, my farrier uses both & the power filer is LOUD & she's fine with it), she catches, leads, loads, ties, lunges in a round pen, saddles up/bits up fine, accepts a winter blanket fine, is respectful at feeding & a really good looking mare. She's had about 30 rides spread out over a 6 month period as I haven't had much time to work with her but she is quiet under saddle & has never offered to buck or bolt & I ride her in an arena not a round pen. She is UTD on worming & her hooves will be trimmed this coming tuesday, she will need her spring shots soon though. She's lived on a 200 acre pasture & is currently being stalled so she has lived in different situations & she's fine with both. I bought her last year with intentions of traing her to be my next barrel horse but have had my riding hours cut drastically due to work & I don't have the time to get another horse started under saddle. She's got a good foundation & needs someone to put more miles on her & take her to the the top, she's got speed & I know she'll be a great horse for someone willing to turn her into the phenomonal horse she can be. I am looking to trade her for a broke(doesn't have to be bombproof but something that's well started that I can finish in a discipline, preferably barrel racing), the trade would need to be registered & between the ages of 3-8 no older or younger please. We may be willing to pay a little cash on top of trading my mare if the horse is the right fit. If we don't find a trade we will sell her for $1500 & we're pretty firm on that price, she's smart, colored & bred like the best. I just bought a little 14 hand Foundation AQHA gelding. My trusty saddle is too long for him - it snugs up too far against his rump. I need a round skirted saddle with full QH bars for trail and light arena work.
My saddle would be terrific on a typical
size quarter horse or other big horse. It is by Ozark Saddlery Professional Line from Waco Texas. It has real solid silver on it but is not a "show" saddle. It probably was a custom saddle owned by a Roper type cowboy named Steve - his nameplate is on the cantle. There is silver lacing around the cantle, silver concho fasteners on rigging. This saddle is 16 inches, Full Quarter Horse Bars, rawhide tree, very comfy for trail with a deep seat and nicely tooled skirt and fenders. It is not too heavy but it is substantial. I am a small woman and I bought it because I could heft it and it fit my horse to a tee, has nicely turned stirrups, etc. It would work for a taller adult than me but one who needs a 16 inch seat. The twist is smaller than most that I tried, which I also appreciated over the full tree.
If you have a barrel or trail saddle with a round skirt and Full QH Bars we could maybe trade. I paid 850.00 for this saddle, used. This is a very good price. The saddle is is very good condition. If you are in the area, you can borrow it with collateral to see if it works on your horse.
My main goal is to get another saddle, just as good as this one, that fits my new boy.
